Dr. Stephen Summers currently serves as Associate Vice President for the School of Arts & Sciences at Seminole State College. He holds a BA in Chemistry with a minor in English Literature from DePauw University in Greencastle IN, and earned his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Florida, Gainesville FL. Since being hired at Seminole State in 1994 as a chemistry faculty member, Stephen transitioned into the role of Physical Sciences Department Chair in 2007, and Associate Dean of Physical Sciences in 2011, before taking on his current role in 2013. A passion for education inspired his pursuit of a career path at a community college, where quality instruction and student-centered practices are central to the mission of the institution. He views the goal of providing students with a robust skillset that can carry them forward into their productive futures as central to his role as an educator and administrator.
