The company’s Orlando pick-up center is its eighth U.S. location.

Indie Campers, a specialty, on-demand camping vehicle rental company, chose Orlando as the next U.S. city in which to expand operations. The Lisbon, Portugal-based company first entered the U.S. in late 2021. Its Orlando pick-up center located in downtown Orlando is the company’s eighth U.S. location and already accounts for 2 percent of its total U.S. bookings.
“Since the beginning of 2022, the US is our fastest growing region. Over 10 percent of our total bookings are in the U.S.,” says Joe Robinson, U.S. Managing Director at Indie Campers. “This represents a total of 10,500 nights on the road with us. We are preparing to receive more booking requests as the high season is just about to start in most states.”
Founded in 2013, Indie Campers offers affordable campervans equipped for road trip adventures to couples, families and groups of friends looking to explore the great outdoors. The company operates across the United States and in 15 European countries including Germany, France, UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Croatia, and Iceland, and has a physical presence in over 50 cities.
With a mission to make memorable road trips available to everyone while providing expert travel insights to enhance each journey, the company’s new pick-up location will allow travelers to start their adventure vacations from the heart of the Orlando region.
“We decided to open in Orlando for three main reasons: it boasts a year-round tourism season, has a strong demand for both domestic and international travelers, and being in Orlando ensures we are on both U.S. coasts for those wanting to do cross-country road trips.”
Joe Robinson, U.S. Managing Director at Indie Campers
Orlando is a great fit for Indie Campers’ latest expansion because of its well-known reputation as a global destination for experiential family entertainment. With 63 percent of its U.S.-based business originating overseas, Indie Campers saw Orlando’s status as a top destination for international travelers as a great way for overseas tourists to experience Orlando in a new and exciting way.
Available vehicles include campervans with an array of state-of-the-art camping amenities including kitchens and bathrooms as well as the capacity to sleep up to four travelers. With the Orlando area being home to many fantastic campgrounds, the opportunities for memorable outdoor adventures are vast.
The Orlando Economic Partnership presented information making the business case for Orlando, including key workforce and cost data and insights, and assisted Indie Campers with its expansion by providing site location research.
“Indie Campers is a great example of a growing international leisure and hospitality tech company expanding into the heart of the U.S. tourism industry.”
Tim Giuliani, Partnership president and CEO
