Hosted by the Orlando Tech Council, the inaugural event of the Industry Discover leadership series featured a diverse virtual conversation about emerging Orlando region XR-supplemented healthcare innovations.

Presented by MedSpeaks FL Health Innovators, VR/AR Association – Central Florida Chapter and the Orlando Tech Council, a program of the Orlando Economic Partnership, the inaugural event of the Industry Discover leadership series delved into the “other half” of what Orlando’s innovation community has to offer.

Focusing on XR-supplemented mental healthcare, the program featured an in-depth panel discussion by local experts on community efforts in population mental health, including Dr. Dan Lim, vice president for Educational Technology and Innovation at AdventHealth University, Daniel Franceschini, instructor of Medicine, Simulation Education at Nemours, Dr. Lauren Reinerman-Jones, founder and CEO of DUJO, LLC, Dr. Deborah Beidel, executive director of UCF RESTORES, and Waymon Armstrong, founder and CEO/president of Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS).

With topics ranging from prevention, treatment, training, and education to novel evidence-based, innovative research methods leveraging the power of virtual, augmented, and simulation technologies, attendees had the opportunity to meet exclusive leaders in healthcare and VR/AR/XR technology sectors and gain an understanding of the needs, gaps  and opportunities to source local talent and resources.

The Industry Discover series is designed to intentionally connect the Orlando region’s talented health and technology leaders in order to discover new ways of working together to improve the mental wellbeing and health outcomes for patients, students, families, front line health professionals and beyond.
