In this conversation we explore what makes a great downtown: more residential density, walkability, and placemaking that creates connection and vibrancy throughout the day

In the latest episode of The City Playbook, Orlando Economic Partnership (OEP) President and CEO Tim Giuliani talks with Brooke Myers, founder of VelocityRED and one of the visionary developers behind Creative Village, the mixed-use district reshaping downtown Orlando.

Brooke shares how her career journey — from Disney’s business development team to launching her own urban development firm — led her to help bring Creative Village to life. What began as a bold city plan to redevelop 68 acres of former arena land has evolved into a vibrant community where education, technology, and innovation intersect.

In this conversation, Brooke and Tim explore what makes a great downtown: more residential density, walkability, and placemaking that creates connection and vibrancy throughout the day. They also dive into post-COVID urban trends, how Orlando can grow smarter (not just bigger), and why collaboration between developers, the city, and the community is key to shaping the region’s future.

“We don’t create demand — we meet it,” Brooke says. “If we build great places for people to live and connect, the energy and activity will follow.”

The discussion reflects the heart of Orlando 2045 — building a more connected, sustainable, and inclusive region through smart growth and intentional design.
