ADP Brings 1,600 Jobs to Orlando

ADP 2

Company Need

In September 2015, the Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership) was contacted by a national site location consultant hired by a Fortune 250 company, later revealed as ADP, LLC (headquartered in Roseland, New Jersey) to find the ideal location for a new regional office to service the continued growth of ADP. The site requirements included the availability of a talented and educated labor pool as well as existing Class A office space to accommodate 1,600 new jobs. The new location would have to align with ADP’s commitment to diversity and focus on hiring recent graduates with four-year degrees.

Orlando’s Competition

ADP evaluated hundreds of locations across the U.S. before narrowing down its options to locations in three states: Virginia, Texas and Florida.

Solution

The Partnership and community partners hosted the consultant and company executives on more than five trips to the Orlando market. During these trips, the Partnership facilitated meetings with higher education institutions, local business representatives and local governmental partners.

Understanding ADP’s need for strong talent, the Partnership provided significant data on the region’s higher education network. With the nation’s second-largest university (University of Central Florida) in Orlando and over 500,000 college and university students enrolled within a 100 miles radius, ADP would have access to a vast and diverse workforce. The Partnership introduced several of its many education partners – Valencia College, Seminole State College, the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Keiser University and CareerSource Central Florida – to ADP executives. The Partnership also briefed ADP executives on the DirectConnect partnership between many of the region’s state colleges and the University of Central Florida.

ADP executives gained insight into the quantity, quality and cost of Orlando’s workforce and a rich sense of the inclusive and diverse community by meeting industry representatives and community leaders, including: Charles Schwab, Chase, CNA, CNL, Duke Energy, Findsome & Winmore, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Orlando City Soccer Club, Orlando Tech Association, Southern Strategies Group, SunTrust, Wells Fargo and ZeroChaos.

Results

The site location consultant, who specializes in talent, was impressed by the quantity and quality of Orlando’s workforce, and determined that the region would provide ADP with the “greatest headcount scalability” among the locations under consideration. The region’s diversity, population growth, labor force and military presence contributed to ADP’s final decision to locate a new facility in Orlando.

In July 2016, ADP’s new Maitland office began operation. The project will result in 1,600 jobs new jobs over the next five years and a capital investment of $28 million.
