While Orlando is often thought of as a one-company town, the Inc. 5000 list regularly shows the diversity of industry that employs over 80 percent of the region’s workforce.
Companies in the Orlando region consistently make the Inc. 5000 list each year. Even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, 43 companies made the list this year, achieving significant growth over a three year period. In 2019, only 36 Orlando regional companies made the list. There were 44 in 2018 and 67 in 2017.
X Social Media (XSM), Smart Baking Company and Fattmerchant topped the Orlando list with over 1,000 percent growth since 2017. All three companies deliver innovative solutions, from XSM’s focus on helping victims and survivors find legal representation to Fattmerchant’s disruptive B2B payment processing technology.
A top industry for growth included health, with five of the fastest growing Orlando companies in this category. It’s no surprise as healthcare and home services is projected to be the region’s fastest growing industry by 2030, according to the Orlando 2030 report. Companies in this category included 3B Medical, Platinum Health, Avant Healthcare Professionals, HomeCare Connect, Yes.Fit and Impresiv Health.
Entertainment and hospitality technology firms were again well-represented on the list with companies including AOA, Epos Now, Lodging Access Systems, Oakwells and Teeming Vacation Rentals. Software as a Service (SaaS) companies founded in Orlando that have been growing steadily and made a name for themselves worldwide include SightPlan, Embark Safety, Fattmerchant, RedTeam Software and PowerDMS. RedTeam Software recently secured a $5 million capital investment and plans to double its workforce in the coming years, according to the Orlando Business Journal. Plus, some significant financial services players including AgAmerica Lending and Fountainhead Commercial Lending made the top ten of the Orlando list.
Growing companies on the list that serve Orlando’s well-established defense cluster included Aerodyne Industries, Knight Federal Solutions, and Victor 12. Advertising and marketing services included three of the eight top-ranked Orlando companies on the list (X Social Media, Net Conversion and Lawyers of Distinction).
Several of these firms made the list multiple times over the past decade; PowerDMS celebrated 10 consecutive years on the list and Avant Healthcare has made the list six times with 2020 marking four years in a row.
