Orlando Economic Partnership Launches 2018 iGRO Program

Orlando, Fla.   One of the Orlando Economic Partnership’s key strategies in building the region’s workforce is attracting, cultivating and retaining talent in the region. The 2018 iGRO program, now open for registration, is an opportunity for our region’s summer interns to connect with peers outside of their organization and be exposed to the unique assets Orlando has to offer an individual starting out his or her career.

This year, iGRO will continue to provide mentoring, professional development, local experiences and networking opportunities, while enhancing its focus on talent recruitment and retention research for local employers. This unique program will also connect college students and recent graduates to local leaders and provide resources to help them establish careers in Orlando.

“Our iGRO program is an important piece of our overall strategy to attract and retain the best talent in Orlando,” said Tim Giuliani, president and CEO of the Orlando Economic Partnership.  “It supports our mission to successfully grow our region and help create a foundation for broad-based opportunity and prosperity in a sustainable way.”

iGRO was created in 2017 by a volunteer committee, comprised of members of the Orlando Economic Partnership’s Young Professional Advisory Council (YPAC). A survey of past participants showed that 60 percent were offered a job in Central Florida or saw themselves beginning a career in Central Florida.

“The concept [of iGro] is fantastic and rarely seen in other communities,” George Huddleston, Civil Engineering Group Leader at S&ME. “It’s a real testament to the commitment to talent attraction and retention throughout Central Florida.”

Through the generous support of this year’s iGRO sponsor, OUC The Reliable One, the 2018 iGRO program is complimentary for any intern working in the Orlando region.
